The Public Has A Right To Know

Hello everyone,

The license to practice law in Michigan is, among other things, a continuing proclamation by the Supreme Court that the holder is fit to be entrusted with professional and judicial matters and to aid in the administration of justice as an attorney and counselor and as an officer of the court.

It is the duty of every attorney to conduct himself or herself at all times in conformity with standards imposed on members of the bar as a condition of the privilege to practice law. These standards include, but are not limited to, the rules of professional responsibility and the rules of judicial conduct that are adopted by the Supreme Court.

The following acts or omissions by an attorney, individually or in concert with another person, are misconduct and grounds for discipline, whether or not occurring in the course of an attorney-client relationship:

(1) conduct prejudicial to the proper administration of justice;
(2) conduct that exposes the legal profession or the courts to obloquy, contempt, censure, or reproach;
(3) conduct that is contrary to justice, ethics, honesty, or good morals;
(4) conduct that violates the standards or rules of professional responsibility adopted by the Supreme Court;
(5) conduct that violates a criminal law of a state or of the United States;
(6) knowing misrepresentation of any facts or circumstances surrounding a request for investigation or complaint;
(7) failure to answer a request for investigation or complaint in conformity with MCR 9.113 and 9.115(D);
(8) contempt of the board or a hearing panel; or
(9) violation of an order of discipline.

In every licensed profession in the State of Michigan, the license holders background is available to the general public except for when it comes to Attorneys and Judges.

The public has the right to know just who it is that they are entrusting with their life. They have the right to know just how many grievances have been filed and for what. They have a right to know for what reason an attorney was suspended.

I personally know of one attorney that has bilked hundreds of thousands of dollars out of unsuspecting clients. This attorney has been grieved at least 14 times as well as suspended once. This attorney has recently committed a state as well as a federal crime. Had these clients known, they would not have hired this attorney just to become victims to this attorney's misconduct.

Bad attorneys become bad judges and there are already too many of them.

You are going to do what you are going to do, I have no control over that, but at least I gave you my opinion, and that is all I have to say.
